2009 - The Year’s End

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I will try to be brief with this post.  First, business.  MedLook 4 continues to draw closer to a close but as you will learn, we’ve encountered some setbacks to our schedule.  Our summer and fall has been full of them.

Sunday, December 27, 2009 around 1:30am my dad passed away at the Cleveland Clinic.  My mom and all of my siblings were present.  He had just turned 87 a few days before.  He was a great guy and well respected in my hometown community of Cadillac, MI.  He worked for the county for years as the head Equalization Director.  Both he and my mom were elected as township supervisor when I was just a youngster.

From my dad’s life I learned that your character and virtue are what define you.  Even though I am in my 40’s and he was in his 80’s I would call him regularly for advice about work, life, the little things, and the big things. I will miss him being just a phone call away.

Needless to say the rest of the week we will close the office to attend to the visitation and funeral.  We will check our email and phone occasionally but can’t promise any great response time.  I hope you won’t need us during these few days.

In closing, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a great, and prosperous, New Year in 2010.  We look forward to each day with anticipation.  Our intention is to continue to provide you a better solution and to gain more customers by your referrals.

Praise the Lord in all things.  Jeff

Guarantor Billing - a clever solution.

Friday, December 4th, 2009

In some situations, such as in a health clinic, some services are repeated over and over for a large number of patients who don’t need to be registered as patients.  For instance, if you are providing some sort of vaccination, etc., each patient does not need to be registered as a patient.  In addition, the guarantor may be the local court, etc.  For billing, the important issue is that the proper guarantor/payee is identified and all services rendered are billed and properly identified.  A couple of clients have come up with a clever method of doing this in MedLook that I thought worth sharing.

Create a “patient” for the payee (e.g. Probate Court).  When entering services on the Charge tab for each new service enter the “patient” name (Jeff Fagerman, etc.) in the comment field and save the charge. When doing Patient Billing be sure to check Comments in the Items to Include.  Below is an example of such a statement:

MedLook 3.0.143 Posted

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving weekend filled with lots of food, family, friend, and some much needed rest.

We have just posted a very minor update to MedLook to our website.  You may wish to download the update if you feel the changes are worth the time and effort. You can download the update from http://www.MedLookUSA.com/downloads.php .

November 30, 2009 - Version 3.00.143

Patient Sub-Folders.  Added primary group number and secondary carrier, mnemonic, policy and group number to Patient Table list. Also added Detail Line Items to show all transactions entered since the beginning of the year and how they have been assigned.

Transactions.  Fixed a minor nuisance regarding the “No further confirmation” delete message.
